100 Things About Me

  1. I am an only child.
  2. I got my first pair of glasses in first grade.
  3. They were bi-focals.
  4. I have lived in four states.
  5. I have moved nineteen times.
  6. I graduate from college cum laude.
  7. I love to eat outdoors.
  8. I have never been on a boat long enough to WANT to get off.
  9. This includes the eight hour long orca cruise I took around the San Juan islands.
  10. I own nine watches.
  11. Six of them are FOSSIL brand.
  12. Replacing the batteries in my watches is an on-going challenge.
  13. Starbucks Triple Grande Latte. Everyday.
  14. Some days, twice.
  15. I have had three cats in my life – a gray cat (Misty), a black cat (Larrabee) and an orange tiger (Bannister).
  16. I have had two dogs in my life – a foxhound-ish mix (Boo) and a Border Terrier (Duncan).
  17. I want to have an Irish Wolfhound.
  18. His name will be Grendel.
  19. In elementary school, I played the trumpet.
  20. Apparently, I thought Doc Severinson was cool.
  21. I do not have a passport. I received my first passport in December of 2008.
  22. I want one.
  23. I believe in astrology but not horoscopes.
  24. I am, without a doubt, a Taurus through and through.
  25. The scent I wear most often is COCO by Chanel.
  26. I was invited to join Mensa.
  27. I didn’t.
  28. I am not a “joiner”.
  29. I won an art contest in first grade for “The Best Wolf”.
  30. If it wasn’t for Kraft macaroni and cheese, I would never have made it to adulthood.
  31. I am a published photographer.
  32. I prefer Nikon cameras and equipment.
  33. My first plane trip was to Florida with my grandmother.
  34. It was also the first time I rode on a motorcycle.
  35. It was also the first time I experienced freeze-dried instant coffee (Folger’s).
  36. I do not own one “good” piece of jewelry.
  37. I’ve held Tina Louise’s driver’s license.
  38. I hate cheap paper napkins.
  39. I am a morning person AND a night person.
  40. By default, this means I am NOT an afternoon person.
  41. I have kept a blog since 2004.
  42. My best blog moment was receiving a comment from Laurel Masse.
  43. Orange juice – no pulp.
  44. I missed two months of school in the first grade when I was hospitalized with pneumonia.
  45. The longest hike I have taken was nine miles – to Ramona Falls in Oregon.
  46. I have kayaked in Elliott Bay, Washington.
  47. I completed my tour of Pacific Northwest volcanoes, photographing Mt. Shukshan, Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood and Crater Lake.
  48. I’ve only been out of the continental United States once – I was sent to Hawaii on business.
  49. I was homeless for three months and slept in a friend’s car.
  50. Dark chocolate.
  51. I am not afraid of any animal as long as it has not appeared uninvited inside my dwelling.
  52. But I HATE those really huge centipedes that are in the tub sometimes.
  53. I do not like anything pickled. Including pickles.
  54. I can’t play computer games because I am lousy at solving all of those puzzles.
  55. I taught Introductory Theatre History at Kent State University.
  56. My aunt taught me to tie my shoes while on vacation in Cook Forest State Park, PA.
  57. My most treasured possession is a photograph of me and my grandmother taken by my uncle on that same trip.
  58. My favorite Girl Scout cookie is the unfortunately named peanut butter sandwich, the Do-Si-Soh.
  59. I must consume the entire tube of those cookies once it has been opened.
  60. I have been held up at gunpoint.
  61. The reality was far worse than my imaginings.
  62. I am always up for going out to breakfast.
  63. My favorite poem is Rudyard Kipling’s If
  64. I write almost exclusively now with mechanical pencils.
  65. I went to college to become a forensic chemist LOOOOONG before CSI made it cool.
  66. No balloons.
  67. No stuffed animals. (Capuchin co-pilots exempt)
  68. I always like to have a vase of cut white flowers in my bathroom.
  69. Favorite song: I Only Have Eyes For You by The Flamingos.
  70. I like my pizza either just plain cheese or with EVERYTHING (ala Pizza Hut Pan Supreme).
  71. In high school I went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show over 100 times, always with my friend Eric.
  72. I LOVE long hot, hot, hot showers.
  73. I dislike baths.
  74. I had to take a dance class for my college degree, and unbelievably received an ‘A’ in Ballet.
  75. Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite comic strip.
  76. Autumn is my favorite season.
  77. I read the New York Times everyday.
  78. I wish I were good at darts and pool.
  79. I will be successful when I own a leather reclining reading chair.
  80. I bought my first car when I was 42.
  81. The car I drove previously had 300,100 miles.
  82. I religiously wash and detail my beloved car once a week.
  83. I believe a good vacation needs to revolve around art museums and/or concerts.
  84. I own over 1,200 CD’s.
  85. I rarely listen to them now that I have an iPod.
  86. I believed when I went to college that I would be fast friends with someone who was really into old movies.
  87. I have known that person, my best friend, for over 25 years.
  88. I have no tattoos or piercings.
  89. I am deeply enamoured with the 19th century.
  90. I believe I will have thick, white hair soon – no gray, no silver – WHITE.
  91. I resent having to sew on buttons. I feel it is a manufacturing flaw.
  92. I like routines and habits. It makes life simpler.
  93. One of my dream trips is to take an O’Keeffe pilgrimage to New Mexico.
  94. I also want to take a long cruise to Alaska.
  95. I would rather do without something I want than accept a cheap substitute.
  96. Twin Peaks was the last TV show I really obsessed about.
  97. I dream about taking a year to drive across the country – photographing, writing and discovering.
  98. I am capable of holding a grudge indefinitely – forever.
  99. When I was a small child and my mother would have company over, I would perform a homage to Cher.
  100. The only sporting events I like to watch are horse racing and Olympic swimming.
